How the Ear Works
At Medical Hearing Associates, our experienced audiologists are passionate about helping our patients understand how their ears and hearing work. When sound waves enter the ear, they travel through the ear canal and vibrate the eardrum. This vibration then triggers a chain reaction of tiny bones in the middle ear that transmit the sound to the inner ear. Within the inner ear, tiny hair cells translate the sound waves into electrical signals that are sent to the brain for interpretation. It's an incredibly complex process, but with the help of our experienced audiologists, we can help you better understand how your ears and hearing work so you can take steps to protect and preserve your hearing for years to come.
